My Little Plastic Footprint is an app that aims to help users reduce their plastic consumption and make more sustainable choices. The app provides a simple and user-friendly interface, allowing users to select from six different areas of their life – bathroom, kitchen, travel, leisure, household, and garden – and start reducing their plastic footprint today.

One of the key features of the app is the Plastic Mass Index (PMI), which calculates the user's contribution to plastic pollution. By going on a "plastic diet" and making conscious efforts to reduce plastic consumption, users can lower their PMI score.

It is essential for everyone to recognize the significant impact of excess plastic consumption on our health and the environment. Plastic can pose serious health risks, with chemicals and microscopic plastic particles potentially causing various diseases, including cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, arthritis, and impotency. It can even harm unborn babies.

Furthermore, the overwhelming amount of plastic waste we generate daily has severe consequences for our oceans. More than 80% of ocean pollution comes from land-based sources, and astonishingly, we discard 50% of the plastic we use within just 20 minutes. The plastic does not biodegrade but breaks down into smaller pieces called microplastics that contaminate our marine ecosystems. This accumulation of microplastics gives rise to what is commonly referred to as the "plastic soup."

To address these issues and reduce our plastic footprint, it is crucial for individuals, companies, and governments to take action. My Little Plastic Footprint app offers valuable guidance on reducing plastic usage, choosing sustainable alternatives, and minimizing exposure to toxic chemicals present in plastics. It encourages a holistic approach that takes into account human health concerns and environmental preservation, with the ultimate goal of significantly reducing plastic production.

The development of this app involved contributions from various international organizations and experts in the field. Partners such as the Plastic Soup Foundation, a leading NGO based in Amsterdam, dedicated to the "Beat the Microbead" campaign, and the Ocean Recovery Alliance, an international NGO based in Hong Kong and the US, bring their expertise and experience in tackling plastic pollution. Additionally, EA, known for their expertise in data analysis and gamification, and Smäll, a prominent sustainability-focused advertising agency in Spain, are also important contributors to the app's development.
